The 2021.R2.1 release contains the following new functionality and improvements:
Application Enhancements
- A new look and feel for ContextHub and DashHub for a clear, uniform layout with more efficient use of screen estate similar to TrendHub Beta.
- ContextHub table column widths are saved as part of a ContextHub view.
- Support for connecting to multiple OSIsoft PI Event Frame databases.
- Improved error handling and various performance improvements for large ContextHub result sets.
- Improvements to DashHub’s current value tile for plotting tags with slow update rates.
- Focus plot improvements for TrendHub NextGen:
- Overlapping context items on the focus plot are now combined in a list to be able to choose the desired one. Similar behavior as used on the Gantt chart in ContextHub.
- Scroll zooming on the focus plot will now zoom in and out on the location of the mouse pointer.
- Functionality added to increase the Y-axis of tags and attributes on the focus plot.
- Panning possibilities added to the X-axis of the focus plot. Depending on the state of the focus plot's lock option. This results in increasing the time period or moving the time period into the future or past.
- Miscellaneous security improvements.
- Monitors with malfunctioning context item creation actions will now also be system-disabled and a notification will be sent to inform the user.
Bug fixes
- We fixed the issue with dashboards containing an old value tile with a timestamp.
- Timestamps of chart exports and search results export are again formatted as custom Timestamps instead of text when opening in Excel.
Known issues
- Cross asset value based search is currently not supported (and blocked) for string tags (i.e. digital tags for which no numerical value mapping exists on the historian). Digital tags for which a numerical value mapping exists on the historian are supported.
- After restoring a backup the tm-zeppelin and the tm-zementis service need to be restarted manually.
- Scooter values may change when zooming in after adding the scooter. This is due to the fact that scooters currently interpolate the data points on the chart.
- The back button of the browser does not correctly restore the panel state.
- When calculated tags are deleted, they cannot be created with the same name again.
- When the trigger of a fingerprint monitor is deleted, the monitor will go to system-disabled. Running the health check will re-enable the monitor, but it will switch to Detect Matches as opposed to Detect Deviations
- Cloning a notebook will result in a copy of the notebook. The paragraphs of the copied notebook are still interlinked with the paragraphs of the original notebook. The "linked" paragraphs of both notebooks may be refreshed/updated based on the other notebook resulting in undesired behavior. It is advised to copy/paste your code manually for now.
- Renaming a tag in the tag builder is not supported if the tag is linked to a Context item.
Important: As from our 2021.R3 release, the minimum system requirements will change:
Note: In case you are foreseeing issues in the (timely) upgrading of your system resources, please contact your CSM for more information, as we will make sure that the TrendMiner core functionalities will still fit 32GB RAM installations, albeit some functionalities might become limited or suffer from degraded performance. As from the 2021.R3 onwards, we will drop active support* for Internet Explorer 11 browsers, following Microsoft's recommendation to only use Internet Explorer for compatibility with older sites and applications. Ending support for IE 11 will allow us to use modern web practices to improve performance and user experience as we continue adding new features. Support for Microsoft Edge browser has been added instead. |
* users will still be able to use IE11 with TrendMiner, but new features might no longer work + IE11 specific bugs/issues will no longer be solved. In a later stage, existing functionalities will also be adjusted to no longer have to cope with the restrictions of IE11.
Synopsis Functionality
Support for connecting to multiple OSIsoft PI Event Frame databases
Administrators could already define multiple TrendMiner data sources connecting to different OSIsoft asset frameworks. Starting from this release, it is also possible to define multiple "PI asset framework" data sources with, next to asset capabilities, also context capabilities to sync the additional OSIsoft Event Frame databases as well.
Important note: The Event Frame synchronization settings have moved to ConfigHub. After the upgrade, your current Event Frame Settings are migrated to a data source over there with context capabilities containing your current settings. Please check if all these settings are migrated correctly and the data source is available. If there are any issues, please contact support before adding the data source manually.
Important note: The configuration of multiple data sources to the same EF database is not supported. This will result with duplicate context items in TrendMiner
A new look and feel for ContextHub and DashHub
We’ve been busy improving the look and feel of our software in order to provide an optimal experience across all TrendMiner hubs.
TrendHub NextGen (currently in beta), ContextHub and DashHub now provide a uniform experience with a user interface that helps you focus even more on your daily analysis. Guiding our users, helping them succeed in their tasks is what we aim for, and is something that we are actively trying to improve with each release.
What’s included?
- A clear, uniform layout with more efficient use of screen estate.
- Resizable and collapsible navigation panels.
- Introduction of the view bar, which always shows you what view you’re looking at, whether you have unsaved changes or not, and gives you access to the view’s action menu.
- User guiding call-to-action sections to help you succeed and get started in a quicker fashion.
- Countless user interface improvements that shape a modern application.
Focus plot improvements for TrendHub NextGen
Getting feedback from you, our customers, is step one. Resolving and adding better user experience is step two. Some feedback on TrendHub NextGen already reached us.
