TH NextGen - Context item search

The context item search enables you to list any events captured in a context item to be shown as search results in TrendHub. This helps you to rapidly identify and visualize periods linked to the context items of interest.

How to perform a Context Item Search

In order to perform a context item search you need to have a saved ContextHub View using an event-time filter. The search will return all items as they are filtered in your ContextHub view.

Once you have prepared and saved your ContextHub view, the search can be performed starting from ContextHub or TrendHub.

After you have performed a search you can check the working with the results list article on what further actions you can do on top of your search results.

Starting from ContextHub

  1. In ContextHub, open a saved context item view.
  2. Click the "Actions" button.
  3. Choose the "Open in Context Item Search" option. TrendHub opens in a new browser-tab with the search preloaded.
Note: Your view needs to be saved and cannot have unsaved changes before you can proceed with this step.Group_4.png
  4. Press the "Continue" button to start the search. A summary of your search conditions is shown. You also have the option to open the ContextHub View in a new tab for review.
  5. Click the "Search" button to show the search results.Screenshot.png

Context Item details

The search results list already shows on which component the context item is created, but more details of the context item can be shown by clicking on the timestamp of a specific result.Group_3.png

Adding calculations

It is possible to add one or multiple calculations to the search results and the search definition, by clicking on the "Add calculation" link. Please look to the Calculations on the search results for more information about how to work with calculations.

Note: Unlike other searches, the Context item search cannot be saved in TrendHub. For this reason, you will need to re-add the calculations on top of your search results each time you restart the search.

Editing and saving a search

Unlike other searches you cannot edit or save a context item search from the search menu. In case you want to make changes, you'll have to edit the original ContextHub view and restart the search flow.

Restrictions

  • The Context Items Search can only be applied to the ContextHub Views with an event-time filter.
  • The first and last search-result may be cut short based on the start and end date of the context period.
  • You can only set a base layer or add a layer from the search results when at least one tag is visualized.
  • As the Context item search cannot be saved, you will need to re-add the calculations on top of your search results each time. Improvements on the ContextHub side are on the roadmap.
