The 2023.R4.0 release contains the following new functionality and improvements:

Innovation Highlights

  • Schedule Manager – Quickly navigate to current, last, or custom dated time periods in DashHub Global Timeframes to focus attention on time since the shift began, to coincide with a particular shift on which an event occurred, or to sync the dashboard timeframe with a shift report.   Users designated as admins may now configure schedules specific to your site's operations, including shift schedules and work week.

  • Plug 'n Play connectivity through ​Generic ODBC provider​​ (via Plant Integrations) – Easily and seamlessly ingest Time Series, Asset and/or Context data from various databases that allows data transfer through a standardized API.  ConfigHub Administrators now have complete control over configuring this connector by specifying custom queries for retrieving data from the source.

  • Enhanced data ingestion with ​Generic JDBC Provider​​ – Users can leverage the existing connectivity to efficiently integrate and process contextual data alongside time series and asset data. Contextual data can now be ingested through the Generic JDBC provider.

  • TrendMiner SaaS reinvented:

    • SaaS hosted by AWS—TrendMiner SaaS offering now has an entirely new infrastructure on Amazon Web Services.  Using AWS standards, TrendMiner can now scale an instance in relation to its capacity.

    • TrendMiner Connect—Say goodbye to VPN with improved security on the communication with plant integration servers.

Application Enhancements

  • Tag dependencies​​ – Improve accuracy of tag creation by browsing mapped variable definitions and adding related tags to the focus chart.   Users can now have more confidence while using custom tags created by other users, as definitions of tags will also now be visible to all users from the Tag Builder menu.

  • Context grid actions menu​​ – Streamline the process of applying filters and copying field values in a ContextHub view through the new right click menu.

  • Homepage​​ – Brand the homepage with a custom image that may be used for your company’s logo or business unit.  Admins can now schedule expiration for custom messages to remove them after a planned event, maintenance, or outage has taken place.

  • Cached Asset Permissions​​ – Browse and search context items with improved performance with optimized permissions checks.

    • ​Data source workflow redesign​​ – Easily create and edit data sources through the new guided wizard with clear steps to enhance the creation and editing flows. This redesign simplifies the user experience by breaking down the data source creation process into logical steps, providing admins with guidance and improved clarity when working with data sources. Added possibility to test the connection in real-time while creating a data source.

    • Parse through data sources with search and filter functionalities in ConfigHub.

Bug Fixes

  • Resolved an issue where in some scenarios the values of aggregated tags when zooming in deviated from the calculations based on indexed data.

  • Resolved an issue where activating a computationally heavy search based filter (i.e. based on a big context window with many results) throws an error. The maximum allowed computation time is increased and the error handling is made more robust.

  • Resolved an issue where changing the default interpolation type of a tag in the historian was not correctly reflected in TrendMiner for users which had already used the tag before.

Known Limitations

  • Conditional formatting for the Gantt will not consider any changes to durations propagated through the use of live mode. To see the updated coloring users would have to refresh the chart.

  • Embedding TrendMiner in external applications is limited to Microsoft Teams. Extensions to improve this functionality and make it more robust will come later.

  • External content tiles in dashboard need cookies to properly load all content (and be able to login when required).

  • Scooter values may change when zooming in after adding the scooter. This is because scooters currently interpolate the data points on the chart.

  • When calculated tags are deleted, they cannot be created with the same name again.

  • After renaming a calculated tag linked to a context item, the component of the context item is not updated correctly.

  • The action displayed on the right-side panel of ConfigHub when a service is restarted, is no longer visible.

Tag dependencies

All calculated tags in TrendMiner are shared by default. If a user has access to all underlying tags, the calculated tag can be used as well. It was, however, not possible to verify the definition of these tags, unless they were explicitly shared through the work organizer. This made it difficult to assess their value or correctness and often led to the creation of multiple, similar tags.

The tag dependencies browser addresses this issue by allowing you to browse the details of the mapped variables and their underlying tags. The tag dependency browser can be accessed on the summary screen of a calculated tag and in the creation screen of a Formula, Aggregation and Machine learning model tags.

When opening a calculated tag through the Work Organizer, the complete definition of the calculated tag is shown. The full details of all dependencies can be assessed in the variable mapping section, which is available for all calculated tags.


The symbol in front of every variable indicates the type of tag. Clicking the symbol will add the variable to the focus chart. Clicking anywhere else within the field of a specific variable will open its details in the tag dependency browser.

In case a calculated tag has been built upon other calculated tags, the dependency browser allows you to navigate the complete dependency tree by using the breadcrumbs. On every level, the variable mapping section can be used to add the corresponding tag to the focus chart.

Schedule Manager

The Schedule Manager functionality allows you to create and configure schedules that best fit your needs. You can do that from the Platform Configurations menu in ContextHub. Schedules are defined based on a multiple user configurable options:

  • Timezone
  • Workweek Start day
  • Number of days in the Workweek
  • Start time
  • Shift duration


Multiple schedules are supported and can be managed from the Platform Configurations menu in ContextHub.

Once a schedule is configured it allows you to filter data in DashHub based on a timeframe defined by a shift from a specific schedule.


Context grid actions menu

Right click actions are now available on a cell in the grid (table view) in ContextHub.


  • There are two options available:

    • Copy value – copies cell value to clipboard.

    • Add filter – adds a filter to your currently opened view with a prepopulated value from the selected cell.


Homepage image and message expiration


New options to brand the homepage with an image of your choosing and to set an expiration date for the specified message are now available.  Those options can be configured through the Homepage configuration selection in ConfigHub.

You can optionally specify an image to appear in the administrative message tile either by drag and drop or by manually selecting an image from your file system.


The option to set an expiration date for the administrative message is now also available.
